GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Hall County Sheriff's investigators have arrested four people suspected of stealing Christmas gifts.
On Dec. 8, investigators tried to pull over a red Honda matching the description of the car involved in several burglaries in the county.
The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Ignacio Barragan of Flowery Branch, led police on a chase from Atlanta Highway to the intersection of Monroe Drive and Athens Street, where officers used spike strips to stop the car.
The Honda was full of what police believed to be stolen property. Further investigation at a house on Laura Lane in Gainesville uncovered clothing, toys and electronics; many of the items were wrapped and appeared to be Christmas gifts.
Police arrested Barragan and his passengers -- 32-year-old Frank Jaworski, 20-year-old Amy Rider and a 16-year-old girl who was not identified because of her age.
All four suspects were charged with burglary. Barragan was also charged with assault on a police officer for trying to crash into an investigator during the car chase.
