Home Depot GivesThousands to Author's Youth Center

Home Depot GivesThousands to Author's Youth Center

Several Gainesville, Georiga residents and businesses, including The Home Depot, are chipping in to support Christian author Jackie Gaskins’s nonprofit mission to open a community youth center called The Remnant. They are preparing for a weekend of work and will have teams of people lending their time and goods to finish renovating the old general store building on Keith Bridge Road

The Home Depot Store is donating almost $6,000 worth of materials and two days of labor over Memorial Day weekend to get Gaskins’s nonprofit building ready for public use. Flooring, sheet rock, fresh paint, and landscaping will be provided and installed by the home improvement supply chain. They will also donate a lawn mower, weed eater, grill, and other items to keep the building well maintained.

Keep Christmas trees out of landfills and 'Bring One for the Chipper'

HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- Did you know that more waste enters the Hall County Landfill during December than any other month?

Do your part to keep the county clean by chipping your Christmas tree into mulch after the holidays.

Georgia's Bring One for the Chipper program recycles Christmas trees every year, spreading the mulch at playgrounds and other public spaces.

Hall County residents can drop trees off at any of the county's 12 compactor sites or the Hall County Recycling Center. City of Gainesville residents also have the option of leaving their trees curbside for pick-up. Trees must be free of lights and ornaments.

For more information, call 770-535-8284. The Hall County Recycling Center is located at 1008 Chestnut Street in Gainesville.
