ADOPT A PET: Meet Clara

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – If you dream of coming home to a wet nose, wagging tail and tons of kisses (in addition to, perhaps, a half chewed shoe or overturned trashcan) adopt a puppy from your local pet shelter. According to the ASPCA, approximately 5 million to 7 million domesticated animals enter animal shelters nationwide, every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized. However, you can change those numbers but adopting a companion for yourself or your family. Pets are an investment but, in our opinion, an investment well worth the money.

According to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, Clara is a 4-month old Shepherd mix who came to HSNEGA as a tiny puppy with her litter mates. Cara is the last pup left from her litter and we can't understand why! This girl is simply a sweetheart...she's good with kids and great with other dogs during playtime at the shelter. She is timid when she first meets you, but she warms up quickly. Best of all is her wonderful looks...a beautiful brindle coat with white "sock" feet, a turned-up snub nose, and the slightest of sweet underbites, all set off by a pair of marvelous Shepherd ears!

Adoption fee for Starr is $100 and covers her spay surgery, up-to-date vaccinations and micro chipping. For more information, visit the website at www.hsnega.org or call the shelter at 770-532-6617, Mon.-Sat. 10-5 and Sun. 1-5. The Humane Society is located at 845 West Ridge Road in Gainesville.
