Charges pending in Gainesville school bus crash

HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- Three students and a motorist were transported to Northeast Georgia Medial Center after a collision in Hall County on Friday. 

The incident happened on the 4400 block of Thompson Bridge Road in North Hall County. 

According to Hall County authorities, a Corvette and Hall County school bus 17-91 were involved in a head-on collision shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. 

The driver of the Corvette, Randolph Marvin Eccles, 54, was travelling NB on Highway 60 when he lost control of his vehicle while trying to pass another vehicle and struck the school bus. 

The bus left the roadway, struck a mailbox, a power pole and came to rest down an embankment. The bus was carrying students from North Hall Middle and North Hall High School. 

The driver of the Corvette was transported to a local medical center; his condition is unknown, at this time. 

Charges against Eccles are pending.
