School bus driver charged after fatal crash


GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- A school bus driver has been charged after an accident that injured six children and killed another driver in Hall County on Tuesday.

The crash between the Hall County School bus and a Mitsubishi Galant happened around 3:00 Tuesday at Cleveland Highway and Whitmere Circle. 

Hall County Schools spokesperson Gordon Higgins told 11Alive News  the bus was carrying 31 kids from Wauka Mountain Elementary School. Six children sustained minor injuries. They were transported to a Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The school's principal and Hall County Superintendent went to the hospital to visit with parents and answer any questions. All of the children had been treated and released by 8 p.m. 

The driver of the Galant, 52-year-old Sabrina Trench, was killed at the scene.

The school bus driver, identified as Vanessa Clark, has been charged with vehicular homicide. She was cited at the scene and given a court date.
