Special Election Voting Today in Forsyth County

Don't forget, the polls are open until 7pm today, March 15th for Special Election Voting. 

The only agenda on the ballot is whether or not to continue the one percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for educational purposes. 

Voters must visit their designated precinct to vote.

Mark your calendar for an Open Air Market this Saturday!  If you're not familiar with The Cumming Harvest already, it's a great resource for finding local, fresh, organic produce and foods.  No chemicals are ever used and all food is local!  The Market is typically an online market - meaning you place your order online each Wednesday through Thursday.  Then on Saturday your order is available for pick up.

However, this Saturday, The Market is hosting an Open Air Market which is a great way to meet the growers, ask questions and even sample some food!  They'll have Bluegrass Music and Face-Painting as well for entertainment.

Troops from the 802nd Ordnance Company Homecoming Event on March 5th

Gainesville, GA--  (submitted by Ron Kellner) The homecoming for the 802nd Ordnance Company will be held in Gainesville GA on Saturday March 5 at 2:00 PM. The Gainesville, GA, Ft. Gillem GA, and Aiken SC troops will be honored for their service in Afghanistan. (200 plus troops) Governor Nathan Deal, US Representative Tom Graves of Georgia and higher command military representatives will be speaking and awarding thanks and praise.

The Patriots Guard will also be present to honor the troops.

Polar Plunge at Lake Lanier to Raise Money for Special Olympics

Lake Lanier, GA--  The second annual Polar plunge event will be at the island’s Beach and Water Park in Buford. More than 250 plungers have registered from various agencies and businesses across metro Atlanta.  The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department is one of the many police departments that will be participating in Saturday’s Polar Plunge at Lake Lanier to help raise money for Special Olympics Georgia.

The Polar Plunge is at 2 p.m. and the gates open at 11 a.m. There will be food, music, costume contests, a bounce house, dunking booths and Special Olympics athlete appearances. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics. Lake Lanier is waiving the gate fee for everyone attending the event.
