ACWORTH, Ga. -- Professional wakeboarders will be traveling from all over the world to meet in Acworth for the first stop of the 2011 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour.

But for some of them, this event is just a few highway exits from home.

"It's awesome to have the Pro Tour in our own backyard, so to speak," said professional wakeboarder Corey Bradley, a native of Gainesville. "To be able to leave your house, drive to the event, have all your family and friends attend the contest, and be able to sleep in your own bed at night -- there's no better setup than that."

Bradley, 26, first honed his wakeboard skills on the waters of Lake Lanier.

Since turning pro in 2005, he has landed deals with several key industry sponsors, appeared in wakeboarding videos and magazines, and competed in contests all over the world.

Bradley will be joined by two fellow Georgians -- Joey Buss of Cumming and Vinny Knapp of Acworth -- on Thursday, May 19 for the opening round of the contest.

Knapp, 24, is a rookie on the Pro Tour and will compete against Bradley in the Pro Men's division. Buss, who is only 15, will be competing in the amateur Jr. Pro Men's division.

The first two days of action in Dallas Landing Park (5120 Allatoona Drive, 30101) feature qualifying rounds that are free to watch. Saturday's finals will serve as the ticketed event.

Tickets purchased at the gate are $13 for adults, $5 for children (ages six to 12) and free for kids under age five. If purchased online, adult tickets are only $7.

Hours for the three days are:

Thursday, May 19: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, May 20: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 21: 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
