GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- A 17-year-old Gainesville mother has been arrested in connection with the death of her 9-month-old baby.

Haley Brook Clark was taken into custody Monday and charged with murder.

Hall County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said Clark's daughter Olivia stopped breathing and was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center on July 18. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators have not yet released any more details about the baby's death and Clark's arrest, Wilbanks said.

Clark is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Police are working to identify two persons of interest in a recent robbery and murder at a Gainesville poultry plant.

Businessman David Sanchez was shot to death on Apr. 12 during a robbery at Victory Foods. Since then, a witness has provided police with descriptions of two suspects.

Both suspects are Hispanic men. The first one is described as 18 to 21 years old, 5-feet-5-inches tall and 135 pounds. The second is roughly 25 to 30 years old, 5-feet-7-inches tall and 175 pounds. The men wore gray hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans and hair nets, presumably to blend in with the other plant workers, during the robbery.

Sanchez's family has established a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspects' arrest and conviction.

Suspect steals cash from Kangaroo Express

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office are looking for a man suspected of stealing cash from a convenience store early Thursday morning.

The incident happened at about 3:45 a.m. at the Kangaroo Express on Dawsonville Highway.

Witnesses told police that an armed man pointed a handgun at the store clerk and demanded money. He received cash and was last seen driving toward East Sardis Road in a white truck.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, about 5-feet-11-inches tall and 150 pounds, with red facial hair. During the robbery, he wore a dark-colored skull cap and hooded shirt.

On January 18, 2012, Agents with the Gainesville-Hall County Multi-Agency Nartcotics Squad (MANS) and the Gang Task Force, along with Officers from the Gainesville Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division, arrested 28 year-old Quincy Marquette Smith, of Gainesville, during the course of a drug investigation.

Agents arrested Smith without incident after executing a search warrant at his residence, 2129-A Martin Luther King Blvd.

During the course of the search, Agents seized approximately $1,400 worth of crack cocaine, less than one ounce of marijuana, digital scales, and a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Smith was booked in at the Hall County Jail, charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Identification Number.

Man arrested for hitting victim with his car

LULA, Ga. -- A Banks County man was arrested Wednesday morning, a day after running into another man with his car.

The incident happened at about 10 p.m. Tuesday on Cobb Street in Lula. Hall County Sheriff's spokesman Stephen Wilbanks said the 45-year-old victim was walking along the road when he was hit by a red Chevrolet HHR, which then drove away.

Witnessed identified the driver as 34-year-old Jeremy Yopp of Lula. Police tracked Yopp down and determined that his car suffered damage consistent with the crime.

Yopp was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

The victim, who was not identified, was treated for leg injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia woman pleaded not guilty to charges that she stabbed to death a 26-year-old man.

Local newspaper, the Gainesville Times is reporting Lisheena Kinanna Cantrell on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to murder, aggravated assault, battery and simple battery charges.

Prosecutors say the 22-year-old stabbed Eveccio Ballard in the neck during a Sept. 5 dispute between the two and another woman.

Gainesville Police Sgt. Chad Ford said Cantrell and Ballard had an "on-and-off" relationship, but police would not reveal a suspected motive for the killing.

Defense attorney Travis Williams declined comment on his defense strategy.
