Norcross Housing Authority employee arrested on drug charges in Hall County | Crime
A Duluth man has been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in south Hall, while he was operating a Norcross government vehicle.
On March 20, 2012, at approximately 12:30 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies observed a 2007 Dodge truck traveling East on Mundy Mill Road and noted that the vehicle displayed a government license plate. After learning that the truck was registered to the City of Norcross Housing Authority, Deputies became suspicious that the vehicle may have been stolen due to the time of night and being such a long distance from Norcross.
Once on I-985 southbound, Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 53 year-old Anthony Mabe, of Duluth. During the course of the investigation, Deputies located a glass smoking pipe filled with cocaine residue on Mr. Mabe’s person. Further inquiry into the government vehicle revealed that Mr. Mabe is an employee of the Norcross Housing Authority and that the vehicle was assigned to him. Mr. Mabe advised that he was not in Hall County on official business, but to pick up his son from work in Gainesville.
Mr. Mabe was arrested without incident and booked into the Hall County Jail, where he was charged with Possession of Cocaine.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Uniform Patrol Division.
