Adopt a Golden Atlanta announces Seniors for Seniors Program

Adopt a Golden Atlanta (AGA) is initiating a Seniors for Seniors program, providing a way for seniors age 65 and older to adopt senior golden retrievers (10 years and older) by waiving the adoption fee or facilitating a permanent foster home arrangement.

In the last few years, Adopt a Golden Atlanta, the largest golden retriever rescue in the Southeast and fourth largest in the US, has seen an increase in the number of older dogs coming into the program – either due to passing of their owner or because of economic reasons.  “We’ve seen a four-fold increase in the number of seniors we’ve taken in,” reports Lauren Genkinger, AGA’s president and founder.  “So we’re announcing this program that is a win-win for both seniors involved – the human and the golden retriever,” she continues.

First property tax installment due October 1

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- According to the Hall County government, the first installment of property tax bills is due October 1. The due date falls on a Saturday; however, Tax Commissioner Keith Echols will accept payments postmarked or paid by Monday, October 3.

This will be the first year property owners have the option to pay their county taxes in two installments. At least half of the total must be received by October 3 to avoid a charge of one percent interest per month. Taxpayers will not receive a second bill when the second installment is due Dec. 1. If the entire amount is not paid by December 1, the taxpayer will be charged 1 percent interest per month until the bill is paid. Once the bill is 90 days late, a 10-percent penalty will be charged.

There are several convenient ways the other 60 percent of property owners may submit payment: online payment, payment by mail and drop-off payment.

Lanier Partners of North Georgia, Inc., a Georgia non-profit organization, in association with a local donor, will hold a raffle drawing on September 11th to benefit Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy and his family.

The prize is an Official NASCAR Hood from Turner Motorsports belonging to the #38 Great Clips car. Raffle tickets may be purchased online at http://www.lanierpartners.org or in person at The Tilted Kilt Restaurants. The raffle tickets will only be $20.00 each and you can buy as many as you like.

The proceeds of the raffle will benefit a Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy who has demonstrated not only excellence in the field and in serving Hall County, but whose family has faced one of life’s greatest challenges.

Calling all Momagers - Mom & Manager

Hi fellow Momagers,

I'm Christine Martinello, wife, business woman, and Momager (mom & manager) of 3 teens aged 17, 15 and 13.  (What was I thinking, right?)  As a true 'sandwich generation' gal, we also have my parents living with us and we can't forget our dog Lucy.  Our household is a real blend of generations and strong views fueled by hormones.  We're launching kids through school and dealing with healthcare issues.  What a fun, fulfilling and meaningful life - most days anyway.

For the past 16 years I've been owner of Training Solutions International and am a motivational speaker, trainer and author of 'The Momager Guide'.   The momager messages are all about how moms and women can lead in an influential, balanced and sane way.  If you're thinking, "What?  It's not possible."  Then read on and follow my posts.
